I-League side Sreenidi Deccan FC signs William Alves for the upcoming 2023–24 I-League season. William Alves, the experienced Brazilian centre-forward, joins Sreenidi Deccan for the upcoming I-League season.
On joining Sreenidi Deccan FC, William Alves said,
“I am very happy for this opportunity to play for one of the fastest growing football clubs in India. I will work hard to pursue our goals and want to make history here with Sreenidi Deccan FC.”
William Alves will strengthen the Sreenidi Deccan FC squad in three possible ways:
- Goal Poacher: William Alves has played 283 matches in his entire career, in which he scored 55 goals. Though his goal-scoring tally is not too high, William is very effective in the opponent’s box with his presence and physicality. William Alves, who started his career with Botafago, also scored two goals against LaLiga side Athletic Bilbao in a Europa League playoff match.
- Versatility: The Brazilian forward can play in various positions in the attacking third. William Alves can play on both wings and also operate as a second striker or an attacking midfielder. Alves’s versatility is going to be very useful for Sreenidi Deccan FC in the upcoming year.
- Experience: William Alves has played in the Turkish Super League, Portuguese Primeria Liga, and Brazil’s top-tier football league. He also has experience of playing in the Saudi Pro League.
Srenidhi Deccan is eyeing clinching the I-League title:
Sreenidi Deccan FC showcased a commendable performance in the last I-League season. The I-League runners-up finished 10 points behind the champions, Punjab FC. To fulfill their elusive dream, Sreenidi Deccan is gearing up for the upcoming season.
Sreenidi Deccan has retained their Portuguese head coach, Carlos Vaz Pinto, and also extended the contract of captain Faysal Shayesteh. They have also signed ISL-experienced defender Eli Sabia.
Besides Eli Sabia, Sreenidi Deccan has also completed the signing of Gurmukh Singh. Gurmukh’s versatility and defensive skills will help Sreenidi Deccan in the long run.
The I-League club has also secured the signings of Ivory Coast midfielder Ibhrahim Sissoko and experienced midfielder Kean Lewis. They have also signed Lalnuntluanga, Subhankar Adhikari, and Pawan Kumar. With these new signings, Sreenidi Deccan FC is expected to display a dominating performance, which will lead them to their dream of winning the I-League.
