About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Indian Super League club Hyderabad FC who have settled fifth on the table last campaign have roped in NEUFC duo Nim Dorjee and Gurmeet Singh on a long-term deal. The Nizams officially announced that the duo have signed a three-season-long deal with the club on Friday.

Haling from Sikkim, Nim Dorjee is a defender who loves playing as a center-back but he can also play as a right-back. He is an Air Force Academy graduate and has also played his early football at Namchi Sports Hostel.

The 25 years old defender had represented the U-17 team of India. His performance at the team handed him entry to the Shillong Lajong youth system. Shillong Lajong promoted Dorjee to the first team during the 2014-15 season. He played 45 I-League fixtures for the Red Dragons where he also scored one goal across 4 seasons.

In 2019 ISL club NorthEast United FC signed him on a three-year deal. Dorjee made his ISL debut against Mumbai City FC in November 2019. In his three years of spell at the club, he appeared in 18 fixtures. He also added two caps for the Indian U-19 National team.

“I am really excited to be a part of Hyderabad FC, a team which has good young and experienced players. The club has played top-quality football last season and I am delighted to be a part of the club’s journey,” stated former Shillong Lajong skipper Nim Dorjee

While Gurmeet is a young Goalkeeper who has played for the Highlanders for the last three seasons. He featured in 8 matches for the NEUFC last season keeping two clean sheets. With Laxmikant Kattimani as the Nizams first-choice goalkeeper, he has to prove his skills to the head coach Monolo Marquez to get a place in the playing XI.

“Gurmeet is a good goalkeeper, and someone who can become one of the best in India soon. He is young but has experience, is quick with his movements in goal, trains hard, and wants to improve in every session. Nim Dorjee is a defender who can play as a center-back or as a full-back. He also has good positioning and played at a high-level last season,” said head coach Monolo Marquez

Nim Dorjee and Gurmeet Singh are among the five new arrivals for the Hyderabad FC for the following ISL campaign.

With the revised ISL guidelines all-new domestic signings by the clubs can get more play time compared to last season.
