Hyunju Lee has agreed on a Loan deal with Bayern Munich from Korean outfit FC Pohang Steelers. Lee has become the second Korean-based player to sign for the German champions. The 18-year-old is all set to join Bayern’s second team and he will reside at the FC Bayern campus.
The Bavarians announced on Friday that they have acquired the services of South Korean teenager on a one-year loan deal. Bayern are hopeful that they can help Hyunju Lee develop into a mature footballer who can compete in Europe. The German champions will be optimistic about the Midfielder’s growth in Germany.
Bayern are well-known all over the world for their training facilities and youth development. They have been helping young players to attain the level and quality required to play among the bests. Meanwhile, their focus on youth development has proved to be very successful as well.
However, Bayern will hope to handle Hyunju Lee in a better way than they handled the situation of Lee’s fellow countryman Jeong Woo-yeong. Woo-yeong signed for Die Roten back in 2018 from Incheon and became the first-ever South Korean footballer to put on the Bayern shirt.
However, Jeong Woo-yeong only made one senior appearance for Bayern in the UCL back in November 2018. Although he was a regular member of Bayern’s youth and reserve teams before they sold him to SC Freiburg in January 2019. The Bavarians are being linked once again with a move for him in the summer, which could be their last chance to land him permanently.
Will Hyunju Lee become another Teenage sensation at Bayern Munich?
Bayern Munich’s emphasis on developing young talented players from different countries around the world has paid off very well. They have been very supportive and encouraging towards their newcomers and helped them break into the first team. The Bavarians have done a good job when it comes to channelizing the talent that their young players contain.
Hyunju Lee shared his thoughts after signing for Bayern and getting the chance to play with the likes of Joshua Kimmich and Jamal Musiala:-
“I am very thankful that I have signed my first contract with FC Bayern Munich. I would like to acclimate quickly, so that I can show my best performance on the field.”
he added
“I want to settle in quickly so that i can give my best performances. I can learn a lot from Kimmich’s defensive work and Musiala is a player i look up to because we are of the same age.”
said Hyunju Lee to Bayern’s website
Players like Alphonse Davies and Jamal Musiala are perfect examples. Both of them broke into Bayern’s main team because of their quality and performances on the pitch. Hyunju Lee will hope to follow their footsteps and earn himself a permanent deal only if he manages to deliver influential performances during his one-year stay at Bayern. The Bavarians do have an option to sign him permanently once his Loan deal expires next year.
