“I am not worried because we can improve”-Juan Ferrando happy with FC Goa performance

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Indian Super League team FC Goa continued their unbeaten run in the AFC Champions League. Goa held Al Wahda in a 0-0 draw at Jawaharlal Nehru Fatorda Stadium, Goa. Juan Ferrando was happy with his FC Goa overall performance.

The Gaurs showed a solid defensive performance against the Arab side. This draw helped them move to the second place of Group E above Al Rayyan and Al Wahda. Juan Ferrando is also pleased with how the campaign is going so far for them. But Ferrando have urged his side to control their emotions for the remaining four games in the league.

Speaking at the post-match press conference coach Ferrando said he is very happy with the teams attacking intent. ” We were playing against a very good team. All teams in the AFC Champions League are the best in Asia. I am happy to get some points in attack. We were better in the positional attack, the squad wants to win, they have ambition, but we need to improve with a new target on our mind.” said Juan Ferrando.

Juan Ferrando’s take on FC Goa current form

Ferrando was not actually surprised by his side’s performance on Saturday night. He hopes that the Gaurs can produce something similar and deliver the same quality against group leaders Persepolis FC.  “It’s not surprising because I know my squad wants to improve every day. It’s a pleasure for me to work with this coaching staff, these players. We are happy but don’t forget, in two days we have to play against Persepolis. In the end, we have to control our emotions. It’s necessary to repeat some details and change the plan for Persepolis. We have to continue in the same way because it’s a very difficult competition,” he said

Ferrando was also pleased with Dheeraj’s performance. Dheeraj had a good game but needs to improve on his passing skills. As FC Goa‘s playing style is to build up from the back. Dheeraj’s lack of game time is the reason behind his sloppy passing but Dheeraj is still young and have a lot of time to improve.

The Gaurs are will now play against the toughest team in Group E which is Persepolis. Persepolis have defeated both Al Rayyan and Al Wahda. So, if Goa gets to manage even a draw against them, that would be a big statement in Asian football.
