I-LEAGUE

Former FC Goa defender Jonathan Cardozo joins NEROCA

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

I-League outfit NEROCA FC signs the 23-year-old defender Jonathan Cardozo from FC Goa. In order to bolster their defense.

NEROCA FC the team which lost 10 out of their 14 matches and ended even lower than Indian Arrows. Are finally opting for a change and working on their defense.

They have chosen Jonathan who has a tiny bit of experience of playing in the Indian Super League. Which is still very less to be called as an experience.

NEROCA FC the team in ruins

NEROCA have given the worst performance of their entire I-League history where they have managed to win only 2 games, drawn 2 and have lost 10 matches. They even got relegated because of their performance, the team which is filled with youngsters making their way to the professional sector of Indian football.

However, the all-India football federation(AIFF) has recommended that NEROCA FC should not be relegated from the league. Citing the impact of the coronavirus pandemic. So there is still a chance for NEROCA FC to remain in I-League. To prove their worth and bounce themselves back in the league. For that, they definitely need to strengthen their squad.

Buying Jonathan might prove to be a wise decision in this scenario, Jonathan is young and highly motivated. he would also be a little in NEROCA’s pockets, so investing in a player like Jonathan might be fruitful in the near future. However, Jonathan has only a small amount of professional football experience. He started his professional footballing journey in 2018 with Shivajians U-18 and then joined FC Goa’s reserve team. Jonathan has played only 6 matches combining the I-League second division and Indian Super League. He has spent a total of 398 minutes as a professional athlete.

This is also a chance for Jonathan to prove his worth. Jonathan is already 23-year-old and in comparison to his age, his experience falls short. So playing for NEROCA might revive his career and work as a stepping stone, so that he could achieve more.
