Neroca FC held a 1-1 draw in their first match against TRAU FC in the 10th match of the ongoing I-League season 2021.

Varun Thokchom scored the first goal of the evening in the 10th minute of the game. The lead did not last long as TRAU equalized in the 15th minute with Joseph Olaleye’s goal.

TRAU have drawn their 2 matches played so far in the 2021 I-League.

Neroca played their first match this season, the club started with ten Indian Talented players coupled with one foreign defender. Gift Raikhan head coach field his team in a 4-5-1 formation.

TRAU head coach Leimapokpam Nandakumar Singh made two changes in his midfield lineups, midfielder K. Krishnananda Singh and Chongtham Kishan Singh were replaced with Seiminmang Manchong and K. Vicky Meitei. The club played with a 4-4-2 formation.

In the first six-minute, TRAU created the first goal-scoring opportunity, but the Neroca custodian managed to make a successful save.

Minutes later Neroca took the lead in the game. A defensive mistake from TRAU central defense helped Varun Thokchom to receive a cross from the flank. Varun made no mistake to slot the ball to the nets.

Neroca’s lead did not last long, as Joseph Olaleye’s header netted Komron Tusirov’s corner kick and equalized the score for TRAU.

Neroca won many chances to regain the lead in the match. But they failed to make them count.

TRAU started playing offensively in the second half. Joseph Olaleye received a golden opportunity to score a goal. He took the shot inside the box and was saved by Neroca’s goalkeeper.

Therefore both team shared points from the match.

Notable Performances:

Varun Thokchom: The 23-years-old Indian scored the first goal for the Neroca FC in the ongoing I-League season.

Joseph Olaleye: His efforts were very crucial for the TRAU. His goal in the 15th minute drew parity on the scoreboard.

NEROCA FC will face Indian Arrow in their next fixture on January 20 at Kalyani Municipal Stadium. Whereas TRAU to host the match against Chennai City FC on January 24 at Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan stadium.
