India is scheduled to play AFC in Qatar on June 3, Bangladesh on June 7, and Afghanistan on June 15. All three matches will be played at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium, Doha.
“I would like to extend a big thank you to the Qatari Government for allowing us to train in Doha under such circumstances and the Qatar FA for hosting us in such difficult times.” – Stimac
“Indian team would be focusing on the Asian Cup 2023”- says Stimac
India will be aiming to qualify for the 2023 Asian Cup in China. The coach is expecting a good performance from the team in the upcoming matches.
“They are very much aware of what’s happening in India. So many families are suffering right now. We have a chance to make the people of India happy with our performance. We need to take this opportunity and bring back smile to the people’s faces,”- Stimac
This grim time has made the blue Tigers more resolute in their endeavors.
“We do not have to do anything extra to motivate them. They are all very good professionals and I don’t have any problem lifting their spirits. They are well aware of the situation and have shown full commitment to the training ground. I can assure you that they will do everything possible to do well on the pitch.”- Stimac
Blue Tigers out of the World Cup qualifiers
India had three draws, two defeats, and zero wins against their name in the qualifiers. They are out of contention for a berth in the World Cup. However, these matches will also be serving as the qualification process for the AFC Asian Cup. There is still a lot at stake in the upcoming games.
“I’m very confident that at the end of this journey, we will be in the AFC Cup.”-Stimac
With the captain back in the team the coach seems to be confident for its team to reach the Asian Cup.
