Indian Women’s Football in the AFC Women’s Olympic Qualifiers ready for Olympic Qualifiers

The senior Indian Women’s Football Team is shown training in Bishkek ahead of their AFC Women’s Olympic Qualifiers Round 1 match. The Blue Tigresses, led by Thomas Dennerby, will face the Kyrgyz Republic Women’s Football team in a two-leg match. However, the two teams will meet twice in 2023, on April 4 and April 7. Dennervy has already picked the roster of 23 players. Experienced players like as Aditi Chauhan and Bala Devi, on the other hand, are still out with injuries. Manisha Kalyan and Soumya Guguloth not considered.

AFC Fixtures:

•           April 4: Kyrgyz Republic vs India, 7.30 pm IST, D Omurzakov Stadium

•           April 7: India vs Kyrgyz Republic, 7.30 pm IST, D Omurzakov Stadium

However, the Blue Tigresses have gone winless in their previous five games, losing to Nepal, Jordan, and Uzbekistan. The Asian qualification matches for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris is on January 12, 2023. However, the Indian women’s football squad will compete in Group G in the Olympic qualification round. Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan will be in the same group as India’s women’s team. Moreover, the competition will get underway in April 2023. Following the completion of Round 1 of the qualifying, Round 2 is anticipated.

Following the completion of Round 1 of the qualifications, Round 2 is scheduled for later in 2023. Since Turkmenistan withdrew from the competition, the only other team in Group G is the hosts Kyrgyz Republic.

The Squad’s 23 Members:

Sowmiya Narayansamy, Shreya Hooda, and Elangbam Panthoi are the goalkeepers.

Ashalata Devi, Sweety Devi, Ritu Rani, Ranjana Chanu, Michel Castanha, Dalima Chhibber, Manisa Panna, and Juli Kishan are the defenders.

Shilky Devi Hemam, Anju Tamang, Indumathi Kathiresan, Sangita Basfore, and Karthika Angamuthu are the midfielders.

Grace Dangmei, Soumya Guguloth, Renu, Karishma Shirvoikar, Sandhiya Ranganathan, and Apurna Narzary are among others who have stepped forward.

Thomas Dennerby is the head coach.

There is just one qualifying slot available in Group G, which consists of three teams. However, the victorious team will go on to compete in the next round of Olympic qualification in Paris in 2024. Moreover, two AFC nations have qualified for the medal round in Paris, where teams from across the world will battle for medals.
