Indian Women’s Team send five goals unanswered past hapless Bahrain

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

The Indian Women’s Team did not show an ounce of mercy as they thrashed Bahrain 5-0 in their own backyard. The Blue Tigresses were back from a narrow 0-1 defeat to Tunisia and had their arsenal loaded this time. They were well-organised and were level above their opponents in every single aspect of the game.

The chemistry within the squad was visible with free-flowing passes all across the pitch. In more than one occasion, the second striker unselfishly passed the ball to the player who had a more clear chance even though they were just yards away from the goal. Coach Thomas Dennerby was evidently proud of his girls at the end of the game.

Before the International friendlies, Dennerby told that he wanted the players to benefit from the exposure. Playing as a team and playing under pressure were the main areas to focus upon. From yesterday’s day, every single one of those boxes have a tick.

Indian Women’s Team beat Bahrain 5-0

The Blue Tigresses dominated the game right from the first minute. The right-wing continuously sent in passes and crosses until the deadlock was broken in the 13th minute. A low cross to the edge of the box was poorly defended by Bahrain and Sangita Basfore pounced onto the opportunity. She pushed the ball away from the rushing defender before tucking it past the goalkeeper.

The second one came almost immediately after a glorious cross from the right wing. Pyari Xaxa connected well with cross before sending a unstoppable header past the goalkeeper. It was time for the left wing to do their magic and the rest of the goals were results of moves that started on the left-wing.

After a clean set of passes on the left-wing and some confusion in front of the goal, Indumathi Kathiresan blasted the ball in to make it three before half-time. Xaxa got her second after she tucked in a close pass in front of goal. The 5th came almost immediately as Manisha Kalyan put pressure on the defence before stealing the ball and smashing it from the edge of the box.

17 minutes before time Xaxa was sent off but Bahrain failed to capitalize. As the final whistle blew, the whole team knew that they had done an excellent job.

The girls will play their next game on 13th October against Chinese Taipei.
