Paris Saint Germain (PSG) cannot resist being in the news all the time. These days it was about the ins and outs of players at the club. But the previous week it was Marco Verratti in the headlines. The Italian midfielder was reportedly caught smoking by fans when he arrived at the training center. A video has gone viral with a fan telling Verratti to hide his cigarette next time he rolls his window down. The Midfielder gave a slight smirk as he went off in his car.
Verratti’s off-the-pitch habits have been often criticized. The PSG midfielder’s antics off the field have come under huge scrutiny in recent times. It is his habits that make him very different from other top players in the world. Most people prefer a quiet, healthy lifestyle when they represent top clubs. But Verratti has been not shy in enjoying things in the city. Paris is a city of dreams and Marco likes to enjoy it when he steps off the field.
Verratti himself spoke about the fact that he likes to enjoy life after so much work on the field. He spoke in 2019:
“We play football, but sometimes people forget that we are also human beings. We get days off, we can go out with our friends, with family. What I hate is when people have unchangeable ideas of me. But honestly, I don’t really care. Everyone is free to think what they want. You can judge me on the things I do on the pitch, and what I can bring to the team. But not off of it.”
Who Will Partner Verratti In PSG Midfield
The major debate on the field for PSG is who will be partnering Marco Verratti in the midfield. Verratti is the undisputed starter for Galtier and his staff. The club has signed Vitinha who has been impressive for them so far. Danilo Perrera offers good depth and physicality coming off the bench. Leandro Paredes looks set to leave for Juventus.
Fabian Ruiz has reportedly agreed on personal terms with PSG. The Spaniard would offer much-needed technicality which PSG lacks. Verratti is the only world-class midfielder at the club with no specific player to partner up with. It will be interesting to see what system PSG adopts and who they trust with Verratti.
