RFC Liège have signed NEUFC defender Benjamin Lambot

RFC Liège have roped in Center back Benjamin Lambot on a free transfer from Hero Indian Super League side NEUFC. RPCL currently plays in the first Belgian amateur division.

The 34 years old Belgian joined Highlanders in October 2020, and his current contract will run till the end of May 2021.

Being a Centre-Back, he smashed two goals in 21 matches. Moreover, he made 79 successful clearances that are the second-highest for the club after Daylan Fox.

Lambot started his football career playing for RWS Bruxelles club’s youth team. Then he joined the youth team of RWD Molenbeek. Later he joined AFC Tubize, from where he had graduated in the year 2008.

During the 2008-09 season, he was promoted to the first team of Tubize and made his professional debut against Westerlo. In 2009 Lambot moved to Royal Antwerp FC, a second division club; he spent three seasons in the club. Before he was promoted to the top division Lierse, he spent another two years with the side.

For the first time in his career, the Belgian defender stepped out of Belgium to join Azerbaijan’s top division side Simurq PIK in 2013.

Lambot returned to Belgium and joined Cercle Brugge, where he spent the next five seasons. Before joining the Highlanders, the Belgian last played for Cypriot top division side New Salamis FC during the 2019-20 season.

NEUFC acquired a place in the playoffs with 33 points from 20 league fixtures. They are unbeaten for the last 10 matches.

FC Goa and NEUFC stood second and third respectively in terms of Goals in the League, although both clubs had 33 goals in their tally.

Luis Machado smashed 7 goals that were the highest individual goal scored for the club. Deshorn Brown stood second with 5 goals in his name.

They scored the second-highest goals in the league and were 4 goals behind the titleholder Mumbai City FC.

Highlanders ended third in the points table by the end of the league.
