Dioni finalizes his departure to Indian Goa. The 31-year-old Spaniard is currently on a contract with Segunda Div. B side Cultural Leonesa and is one of the key players for the Catalan side.

Dioni will leave the Leonese team this summer market bound for the super league.

Dioni’s career in the Spanish club

Dioni started his career with Murcia Deportivo and made his LaLiga debut with Deportivo La Coruna in September 2010. In 2012, he joined the Italian club Udinese Calcio and eventually loaned out to three Spanish clubs.

He then went on to play for several Spanish sides including Leganes, Oviedo, Racing Santander, and Fuenlabrada. In 2019, he moved abroad to join the Polish side Lech Poznan, returned to Spain, and signed for Cultural Leonesa after just 6 months.

Dioni had a brilliant career, playing 395 matches and scoring 145 goals. In the ongoing season, he played a total of 25 matches, scored 10 goals, and assisted another two.   Though he has endured in-and-out stints at most clubs, his standout performances have been for Fuenlabrada and currently Leonesa

Dioni might be a comeback card for FC Goa

After an impressive season in ISL and a notable campaign in AFC Champions League, FC Goa has begun preparation for the next season. FC Goa finished fourth in the ISL last season. It is believed that he might be a perfect replacement for Igor Angulo who was the standout performer for FC Goa last season, winning the Golden Boot. However, recent developments tend to indicate that he has fallen out of favor at the club.

FC Goa is the only club willing to pay the fee which his club is asking for the players’ release. With Dioni in the team, FC Goa would surely be in contention for both ISL shield and cup next season.
