Ishan Pandita departs for Jamshedpur FC

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Ishan Pandita has bid farewell to his current club and would be joining fellow Indian Super League club Jamshedpur FC. He had played just 128 minutes for FC Goa managed by Spanish tactician Juan Ferrando.

Pandita was the goalscorer for India Under-23 team in a 2-0 friendly win against I-League giants Mohammedan Sporting Club. However, it would be a big blow for the Gaurs as they have earlier lost last season’s Golden boot winner Igor Angulo to Mumbai City FC.

As per IFTWC, the youngster would be joining Jamshedpur. However, the transfer fee hasn’t been disclosed.

New challenge ahead of Ishan Pandita at Jamshedpur

Pandita joined the 2019-20 ISL Shield winners in 2020 from Spanish club Lorca FC. However, it didn’t take much longer for him to make an impact in his home country. In his eleven appearances in the league, he scored four goals and most of them coming in injury time.

However, he lacked playing time and would be keen on playing for another club. He also played in all six group matches in the AFC Champions League. Whereas, Jamshedpur FC have a void left since the departure of prolific Aniket Jadhav to Hyderabad FC. The Miners have now completed some mouthwatering deals such as Komal Thatal from ATK Mohun Bagan, Greg Stewart from Rangers, Seminlen Doungel from Goa, PC Laldinpuia from Aizawl and Anas Edathodika.

After having the majority of his youth academy experience in Spain, he would be keen on getting more playing time. Despite a superb performance in the friendlies, Pandita has been left out of the Indian squad who will play two friendlies against Nepal.

Both Jamshedpur and Goa are participating in the upcoming Durand Cup, which is scheduled to start from 5th September this year.
