Kerala Blasters sign Jorge Pereyra Diaz

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Kerala Blasters have officially announced the transfer of Jorge Pereyra Diaz from Argentine club Platense. The 31-year-old striker would be joining the Yellow Brigade on loan from the Argentinean club.

As expected by many of the rumours circulated in the social media, Argentine journalists too agreed about this difficult transfer. Whereas, Diaz becomes the third foreign signing for them after Adrian Luna and Enes Sipovic.

The Argentine centre-forward has threatened many Asian teams including Bengaluru FC during his time at Malaysian giants JDT. Will he finally be the missing piece that would lead Kerala Blasters to the title?

Jorge Pereyra Diaz – another Argentine to shine in Kerala Blasters

Diaz joined Platense from Chilean club CD SM. He scored two goals and assisted once in 12 appearances for them. He also had stints in other Argentinean clubs such as Ferro, Intependiente and Lanus. The forward made his senior debut with Ferro during the 2009-10 season.

However, the icing on the cake was his stint at Malaysian club Johor DT. He scored 48 goals in just 72 matches played across three seasons. Additionally, the veteran won two Malaysian Super League, three Malaysia Charity Shield, one Malaysia FA Cup and the 2016 Malaysian League golden boot.

Luna and Sipovic made their debut with the Southerners in the 3-3 draw against Kerala United. The former was doing an exceptional job setting up the strikers to find that fourth goal whereas the latter was steady in defence.

Diaz could be once again the clinical goalscorer if Luna does some creative passes and through balls. Additionally, the club is also rumoured with the signing of Alvaro Vazquez from Sporting Gijon.

After winning the domestic treble with Malaysia, Jorge would be keen on getting his hands laid on the Indian Super League. Will this be the season of trophies for the Tuskers?
