NEUFC is among the three clubs interested to sign Valskis after he expressed his desire to leave Jamshedpur FC. He still has one year of contract left with JFC. He was playing with Chennaiyin FC before signing a deal with Jamshedpur.

Differences in opinions between the Lithuanian and head coach Owen Coyle are cited as the reason for the potential departure.

The duo was instrumental in Chennaiyin FC’s fantastic run to the final, stitching together a 9-match unbeaten run. They lost to ATK Mohun Bagan in the final with Valskis ending up scoring 15 goals to win the Golden Boot.

Valskis performance in previous clubs:

The 33-year-old striker made a name for himself in his debut season in India and picked up the Golden Boot Award in the 2019-20 Indian Super League (ISL) scoring 15 goals in 20 matches for Chennaiyin FC. He also had six assists to his name. Valskis signed a two-year contract with JFC in 2020 and reunited with former boss Owen Coyle

Nerijus Valskis started his career in his native country and spent many years at the top level of Lithuanian football.

Valskis was called up to the Lithuanian national team in 2013 while playing for FK Sduva. He made his debut on 11 October, against Latvia in a 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification match.

He has appeared in 24 international matches and represented Lithuania in competitions like Baltic Cup and UEFA Nations League alongside Euro Cup, 2014 FIFA World Cup, and 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers

Neufc’s performance in last ISL campaign:

Last season, the team has appointed Spaniard Gerard Nus as its head coach.

Striker Kewsi Appiah, who has Premier League and Championship experience from England, is the biggest signing for the new campaign. 30-year-old Isriss Sylla, a Guinean professional footballer, and Luis Machado, 28, a Portuguese winger, add depth to its attack. Britto PM and VP Suhair join NEUFC after a successful season with Mohun Bagan in the I-League. Mizoram-born Lalkhawpuimawia was among the goals (5) at Churchill Brothers last season.
