Indian Super League side FC Goa played in the AFC Champions League(ACL) for the first time. And there are definitely some players who took the challenge up front and managed to shine under pressure.
FC Goa finished 3rd in their respective group after managing 3 draws and 3 losses in 6 matches. These statistics might not look that fascinating but Goa has done extremely well. Goa almost recorded their first ACL victory also but unfortunately failed in the very last minutes. And all the foreign players left before the last fixture because of which it ended in a loss for Goa.

3.Edu Garcia– Captain of the Gaurs, their pride Edu Garcia made history by becoming the first player ever to score in ACL for FC Goa. Edu has been the backbone of the team and he did the job perfectly which Juan Ferrando gave him. Edu’s absence was clearly felt when he missed the match against Persepolis and the team recorded their worst defeat in ACL.
2.Brandon Fernandes– Another player after Edu Garcia, who made history is Brandon. He became the first player for FC Goa to provide an assist in the AFC Champions League. Brandon has 2 assists in 5 matches which is another record on its own.
1.Dheeraj Singh– Young Dheeraj is the one who has outperformed everyone else. Dheeraj did everything for the team, from stopping penalties to making spectacular saves. Dheeraj is also the one who made the most saves in group E. the 20-year-old made a total of 26 saves. And not only that Dheeraj has kept 3 clean sheets too.
