Jack Grealish move to Arsenal possible after City’s £40m deal

Jack Grealish - Manchester City

A recent deal worth £40m could very well see Jack Grealish leaving the City to join their main title rivals Arsenal this summer.

Arsenal is on the lookout for forwards this summer and a chance from their main title rivals may reach their doorstep soon.

As it seems Jack Grealish might soon be leaving the City side following a bad season for the Englishman. Despite winning the title with his team, Grealish personally endured a tough season. The 28-year-old failed to find regular spots in the opening lineups of Pep making 36 appearances last term. He managed to score only 3 goals and provided the same assists in 2023/24.

Further, Grealish only found a total time of 2,124 minutes this term which was a downgrade compared to the 3,495 minutes he played in the season before.

Talking to England International, Guardiola said:

“It depends on him,”

“[It] depends on him and all of them, you know.

“I try to be fair in my decision. We make mistakes but… so if he plays a lot of minutes last season and this season a little bit less in the beginning, it is the same player, the same manager, the same way we want to play.

“The same. Nothing changed, it’s just how you perform that is the difference and we need him. I said from the day one we need him, having a special quality for our team. We need him. It depends on him. Hopefully he can do a good last month.”

Difficult times at City

It has also become more clear that for Grealish the times will get even more difficult at City. The competition to get in the main team is already high and with the new signing, it may be over for Grealish. With the arrival of Savio next season Grealish chances at City are bound to reduce even further.

Savio comes from fellow City Football Group side Troyes and is expected to complete the move in the next few weeks. The 20-year-old gained attention when on loan to La Liga club Girona. There he managed to score 11 goals and provide 10 assists in 41 appearances.

The Brazilian is expected to sign a deal worth £40million with Man City to play on the left wing. This combined with the availability of Jeremy Doku means opportunities may end for Grealish.

Transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano wrote on Facebook:

“Despite many proposals, Manchester City decide to bring him back as Sávio can be an important player. Formal steps expected to follow after Copa America.”

Jack Grealish moves to Arsenal?

A lack of playtime saw Grealish miss the England squad for the 2024 Euros. All these factors combined may very well see Jack Grealish look for other teams and opportunities outside Man City this summer. Should that happen a move to Arsenal might be a possibility.

It’s understood by now that the Emirates are looking for forwards. Players who can form attacks, central midfielders, and Mikel Arteta might not want to miss this chance. As Arteta and Edu prepare the side for a third successive Premier League challenge, a player like Grealish could definitely cross their target area.

Further, bringing Grealish in would be an upgrade to Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard. He could very well manage the role of a central midfielder too if Arteta entrusts him with that.

Currently, Grealish is valued at £50million by Transfermarkt but the fee is expected to go much higher. Although the Gunners might not even look at the Grealish option we should expect Edu to at least take a chance if it happens.
