In the recent news, Germany coach, Joachim Loew hinted at an international recall of Bayern Munich’s Thomas Muller. The “Ramdeuter” was more than happy with the news as he showed his enthusiasm by responding he is “definitely ready” to play for his country.

Thomas Muller has been a key player for Bayern Munich since he joined the club. He played an important role in their dominant season of 2019-20 where they won the sextuple. He has stacked up more than 300 goals and assists for Bayern.

This season, he is only behind his fellow teammate Robert Lewandowski in terms of goals involvements in the Bundesliga with 21 G/A to his name. Bayern is currently top of their league with only 3 points separating them from 2nd placed RB Leipzig.

The 31-year-old midfielder’s stats for his nation is simply brilliant. He has made a total of 100 appearances, in which he has 74 goal contributions. Muller was also the golden boot winner in the 2010 FIFA World Cup. He won the silver boot in 2014 when Germany won the FIFA World Cup.

THOMAS MULLER EAGER ON RETURNING TO INTERNATIONAL DUTY

The famous World Cup 2014 winning trio of Mats Hummels, Jerome Boateng, and Thomas Muller was surprisingly left out from the national side. Joachim Loew clearly stated that he doesn’t see them fit in his plans and wouldn’t consider them during the selections.

But it looks like the German coach has changed his mind. He was under pressure when Germany were thrashed 6-0 by Spain in the Nations League. Speaking to the media, he said:

“The European Championship is a separate competition and our job is to bring the best players and the best team with us in order to guarantee the greatest possible success.” – Joachim Loew said to Sky Sports Germany.

He ended by saying that a decision on the trio will be made in May, a month before they play the Euro 2020 (which was postponed by a year due to the pandemic).

I feel like chasing titles in the summer. We will see if it is the end for me after the Champions League final or whether I will play for the national team. I’m definitely ready.” – Thomas Muller’s reply to his potential return to the national squad.

Germany has been drawn in Group-F of Euro 2020 which is also termed as the ‘Group of Death’ by football fans online. They will be playing World Cup winners France, Euro holders Portugal and play-off winners Hungary in the group stage.
