Juventus 1-0 Chelsea Post-match analysis:

Juventus started the game very deep into their own half and tried to play in transition. The Bianconeri’s all eleven players spent most of the time in their half and were happy to let the Blues keep the possession and move the ball side to side in front of them.

Allegri deployed a very narrow defensive and midfield line. At the same time, the Blues struggled throughout the game to create spaces between the lines and could not manage many openings.

Bianconeri found the winning goal very early in the second half when Bernardeschi produced an excellent through ball for his forward partner Chiesa and the 23-years-old made no mistake to find the back of the net.

While the story of the game was pretty similar in the second half as Juventus defended deep and Chelsea failed to break down Allegri’s defensive structure. In the end, the Blues could not manage a single on target in the second half, despite attempting 12 shots.

Notable Performances:

Federico Chiesa: The Italian international worked extremely hard for his team defensively and scored the winner to send his team top of the group.

Leonardo Bonucci: Kept Romelu Lukaku quiet throughout the game and also marshalled the back four excellently.

Matthijs De Ligt: The Dutchman was excellent alongside captain Bonucci and dealt with the Chelsea threats seamlessly.
