Juventus are reportedly interested in Jorginho as per Calciomercato. The 29-year old midfielder is facing limited playing time in his current club, Chelsea.
The Bianconeri are considering him as an alternative if they fail to sign Manuel Locatelli from Sassuolo.
Jorginho tried for a move to Turin during Sarri’s stint at Juventus. The two have had brilliant stints at Napoli as well as at Chelsea.
JORGINHO KEEN TO RETURNING TO ITALY WITH JUVENTUS
Jorginho joined Chelsea in July of 2018 as the Blues appointed Maurizio Sarri as the head coach after the sacking Antonio Conte.
He was a key player in Napoli’s title-challenging team in the 2017-18 season finishing with a massive 91 points. He scored 6 goals in 160 matches for the Italian giants. It is quite clear why Sarri wanted Jorginho at Chelsea.
The following season didn’t disappoint as Jorginho won the UEFA Europa League with the Blues. Additionally, his role as a reliable penalty taker had earned him more goals in the Premier League.
But recently, Mateo Kovacic has established himself as one of the key players in the midfield. Thus, there was a lack of playing time for Jorginho. He has scored 15 goals in 123 appearances for the Pensioners.
Juventus are currently sitting at 3rd place in Serie A and are looking low on energy to defend the title they won last season. They are far from being impressive under the new coach, Andrea Pirlo, who took over from Maurizio Sarri.
Jorginho has also caught eyes of Manchester City. But, the return to Italy looks more imminent.
However, it would be interesting whether Thomas Tuchel would let go of such a great penalty specialist midfielder. He has been a key player in the tactical play alongside Mateo Kovacic and N’Golo Kante.
