Karim Benzema to make sensational France Return in final?

Real Madrid and Barcelona

Karim Benzema might just be available for the FIFA WC final against Argentina on 18th December. The Frenchman has been out since the start of the tournament with an injury that he suffered in training. He has not participated in any of the world cup matches so far. But reliable reports say that Benzema is in a good stage of recovery. If things go well, Karim can be in the squad for the final and might just make it in time. But it will be difficult to think of any striker other than Giroud starting for Deschamps. The striker has scored 4 goals already and is in race for the golden boot.

Karim Benzema has had a tough time after lifting the Ballon d’Or earlier this year. The Real Madrid forward has been dealing with injuries since then and has not yet kick-started his campaign well. Real Madrid are also 2 points behind Barcelona who are enjoying the services of Robert Lewandowski. Benzema suffered a heavy knock against Celtic in the UCL and now he is injured for the rest of the world cup. But Didier Deschamps will be delighted to have Benzema back for the final if he would be fully fit. The coach and the striker did not have the best personal relations, so it would be interesting to see what happens.

But having Benzema back will be a big boost for any side let alone France. It has been a recent habit of his to step up in big games and France will be hoping to have his services in the final. The attack seems to be too much dependent on Kylian Mbappe who is having a sensational tournament so far. The PSG attacker is well on course to guide his team to yet another World Cup trophy. But having Benzema will uplift France’s attack much more and make them an even greater threat against Argentina. However, Argentina are no easy side to play against, having won all games except the opening one.

Are France the Favourites?

France have a star-studded squad with absolute talent all over the pitch. They will be a real handful for an Argentina side who themselves have star players. Lionel Messi looks to be a man on a mission with Julian Alvarez his trustworthy partner up front. Messi has fired in 5 goals so far with Alvarez getting 4. But going into this match, France might just be called Favourites because of the sheer quality they possess. Argentina meanwhile has a group that possesses unbeatable unity and determination.

It will be a crazy battle as 2 of the biggest teams will fight for Football’s most glorious prize. Lionel Messi will try to put his past behind him and lift the trophy for the first time ever. Or it is Kylian Mbappe who will try to win back-to-back titles and remind everyone of his status as one of the best around. Sunday will be a big day for both sides, perhaps the biggest. At the end of it, only one of them will have 3 stars on their jersey.
