Laldanmawia to join Northeast United

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Laldanmawia Ralte could be joining Northeast United from Hyderabad FC in the Hero Indian Super League for the upcoming 2021-22 season. The 28-year-old winger made just a couple of appearances last season under coach Manuel Roca.

A reunion with Bhut Jolokia head coach Khalid Jamil is on the cards for him and would be keen on getting even more playing time. Despite failing to reach the playoffs the Nizams were outstanding last season and have improved considerably with their new signings this season.

Laldanmawia is currently a free agent since May 2021 and would be getting a new multi-year contract at his new club.

Khalid and Laldanmawia – an Indian reunion of master and student at Northeast United

Laldanmawia joined Hyderabad from East Bengal during the 2019-20 season. However, his move from the I-league to the decorated ISL didn’t benefit him at all. Across the two seasons at the southern club, he made just seven appearances. But he hasn’t scored or assisted at least once.

But, for the Kolkata giants, he was an absolute gem! In 33 appearances for the Red and Golds, he scored 11 goals and assisted once. However, his dream run was with Aizawl FC in 2016-17 I-League when the club were the surprise trophy winners. At that time, Khalid Jamil was the coach for the northeastern club.

According to Khel Now, the winger is looking forward to once again reunite with his former coach.

Northeast United were the deserving semifinalists last season as they finished their group matches in style with a 2-0 rout of struggling Kerala Blasters. However, it was mostly possible due to none other than the Indian gaffer – Jamil!

Will Laldanmawia create history with Jamil for the Northeast giants and will he finally start scoring goals at his new club? Anything can happen!
