Italian side Lazio are looking to strengthen their team this season and considers Josip Brekalo as the ideal candidate. Brekalo is a left-winger who currently plays for Wolfsburg in Germany.
Lazio are undergoing changes in their team with the appointment of new manager Maurizio Sarri. The club now has to adjust to the new formation and considers Brekalo as a solution in the left-wing.
The latest reports are coming from Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla. According to him, Lazio are in the market for offensive wingers and Brekalo is one of the achievable targets. Lazio believes that they can land Brekalo, even if it is on an initial loan deal.
LAZIO WANT BREKALO TO HELP SARRI
New boss Sarri, deploys a 4-3-3 system compared to the 3-5-2 system used by former manager Simone Inzaghi. This has prompted the Biancoceleste board to bring in new signings to the required positions.
Brekalo has been impressing in the Bundesliga for Wolfsburg. He scored 7 goals and assisted 3 times in the Bundesliga this season, helping his side to qualify for the Champions League. A good passer of the ball, one of his strong points is the ability to take shots from distance.
The Croatian winger is also good with set pieces and likes to cut inside while going forward. He has featured 27 times for his nation and scored 4 times. Brekalo has his contract with Wolfsburg till 2023 and could be available for a good offer.
While Wolfsburg are asking for a €20m transfer fee, Lazio are not able to meet this immediately. Owing to their financial situation, the club is looking to push for a loan deal with an obligation to buy. Lazio will have to act fast though, as multiple Premier League clubs like Leicester and Leeds have shown interest in the 23-year-old.
