Leeds United are reportedly interested in signing defender Fikayo Tomori from Chelsea as per football.london.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side are struggling at 12th place in the Premier League. The Whites had a brilliant start to their campaign in the first few initial matches in the League, however is now struggling with their poor form.

The 23-year-old centre-back has played only one game for the Blues in the Premier League 2020-21 season. His contract will expire only on June 30 2024.

Fikayo Tomori: Career, Statistics and Performances

Fikayo Tomori joined Chelsea’s youth academy aged 8. The Englishman had loan stints at Brighton & Hove Albion, Hull City and Derby County.

Currently, he is facing lack of playing time as the centre-back duo Thiago Silva and Kurt Zouma have established themselves as the regular defenders.

Tomori is also well-known as one of the goalscoring defenders for the Blues. His goal against Wolverhampton Wanderers in an away 5-2 win was simply fantastic. However, he had scored two goals in 26 appearances for the Blues.

He is rumoured along with Rudiger for a move away from the Stamford Bridge. Both of them face competition for inclusion in starting 11.

Tomori to get more playing time at Leeds United?

Players need to develop by getting more playing time. The London club is well-known for its development of talented players through a loan system.

However, Fikayo Tomori is one of the defenders that your squad needs! Not only he defends well but also can score some goals.

Leeds United face serious defensive issues after conceding 33 goals till now in just 17 matches in the PL. Hence, Tomori might get a much bigger role as compared to his current stint at the Pensioners.

Leeds were brilliant in their initial matches but currently, they are running out of options.

However, Lampard is not in favour of Tomori leaving the club. The Chelsea manager mentioned that he is one of the key players of his plan.

“I rely on him. That’s clear from when I took him to Derby and how I handled him last year. He’s been a fantastic player for me. He trains very well and when he gets his opportunity, like he had when he came on against Liverpool and in the Carabao Cup, it’s important he takes them.”

Frank Lampard

Leeds United next face Crawley Town in the FA Cup 3rd Round on 10th January.
