Leroy Sane has lost his place in Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich has restructured the squad this season in the aftermath of Robert Lewandowski’s departure. As a result of the restructuring, Leroy Sane has lost his place in the squad. It is reported that the former Manchester City winger is way down on the pecking order at the Bavarians.

Sadio Mane has been signed as an indirect replacement for Robert Lewandowski this summer. The Senegalese has settled at the club well and has cemented his place in the first XI. However, Leroy Sane is not a preferred winger anymore even in the absence of Serge Gnabry.

Kingsley Coman and the dynamic Jamal Musiala have been in tremendous form for Bayern Munich. Kingsley Coman is a clear favorite at Bayern Munich on one flank. Whereas Serge Gnabry, Leroy Sane, and Jamal Musiala are vying for the other flank.

However, Jamal Musiala has been often utilized on the left flank ever since his debut for the club. Julian Nagelsmann also seems to prefer Serge Gnabry over Leroy Sane when fit for the wing position. This effectively leaves Leroy Sane warming the bench more often than not.

Should Leroy Sane leave in search of first-team football?

FIFA World Cup 2022 is set to take place this winter in Qatar. If Leroy Sane wants to play a part for Germany at the World Cup then the winger needs to play regularly. It seems unlikely that Bayern Munich will let the German international leave. However, Leroy Sane should look at his interests above Bayern Munich for now considering the World Cup.

Clubs like Chelsea and Liverpool are looking to sign an additional winger to bolster their attacking options. Leroy Sane has previous experience of playing in England as well and even a loan move to either club can help him secure his World Cup spot. It is more than clear that playing time will be limited for the German international at Bayern Munich.

It is ideal for Leroy Sane to request a move and look to find his way through to a club that can guarantee more playing time. However, looking at the time left in the transfer window, it is highly unlikely Bayern Munich will sanction a move. Leroy Sane will have to make the most of every opportunity he gets to ensure he can force his way through into the team at Allianz Arena.
