Liquidity ratio stands in between Lazio and Tomas Basic

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Lazio has agreed on a deal with Bordeaux for Tomas Basic. Both the clubs as well as the player has agreed to the terms and conditions of the contract but an unusual obstacle blocks the path. The deal has come to a standstill after Lazio put forth claims of struggling with their liquidity ratio. The Liquidity Ratio of any organization is the ratio between the Company’s Assets to the Company’s Liabilities.

Basic has a contract at Bordeaux that runs until June 30, 2022. He had a good season at the famous wine city. He scored 4 goals and assisted one in 34 appearances. The Croatian midfielder has been at the club since 2018. In his 3 seasons at the club, he made the most appearances last season.

He was a part of Zlatko Dalic’s preliminary 34 member squad for Euro 2021. He did not make it to the final 26 as Croatia were eliminated by Spain 3-5 in one of the most thrilling games of the tournament.

How Lazio can complete the Basic deal

Lazio will have to sell a player to generate enough revenue to make any signings. Bordeaux wants to cash in as soon as possible and this has put Lazio in a very awkward position. They are holding talks with other clubs to possibly sell any of their players and as of now, nothing seems to be moving.

The Rome outfit are in talks with PSG over Argentine forward, Joaquin Correa. They are trying to negotiate a deal wherein they would get over €18 million-plus Spanish winger Pablo Sabaria. Correa was a part of the Argentine squad that won the Copa America 2 weeks ago. The player has requested a transfer and thus Lazio are keen on reaching an agreement with the Ligue 1 heavy-weights.
