Liverpool are ‘drooling’ over LOSC Lille defender Leny Yoro as they look to bolster their defence for the future. That’s according to Le 10 Sport. The outfit claims that despite opening talks with defender Ibrahima Konaté over a new deal, Liverpool still plan to add to their defensive options.
Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip are both on the wrong side of 30 now. The Reds acknowledge that they are not eternal and hence want to prepare for the inevitable future without the pair.
Liverpool want a young player
Liverpool are clear about what type of player they want. They particularly want a young player whom they can develop for the future. After scouting around the world, Liverpool have identified Lille youngster Leny Yoro as a potential target.
Le 10 Sport report that the Reds are ‘drooling’ over the defender, who is already being eyed by both Manchester City and Manchester United.
Now Liverpool are looking out for him and are ‘determined to play a role’ in the Frenchman’s future as the race for his signature heats up. Whether that means they are ready to make a move remains to be seen but the interest is genuine and he’s a name to keep a close eye on moving forwards.
Leny Yoro could be the perfect signing for Liverpool
While Van Dijk and Matip aren’t getting any younger, their backups Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez have both had injury problems. Hence, Leny Yoro could be the perfect signing for Liverpool. He could immediately come in to become a strong backup option for Jurgen Klopp.
At the age of just 18, Yoro is already a regular starter for the Ligue 1 side. He averages 3 clearances per game and wins 1.7 aerial duels at an average. He also has a pass completion rate of 90.7%.
While Yoro is still in his teenage, he is only going to get better. Training alongside Van Dijk everyday could be a massive boost for his development.
