Liverpool make their decision over trophy-winning ‘leader’ wanted by many Premier League clubs

Liverpool

According to a fresh report from Football Insider, Liverpool have made their decision over Fluminense midfielder Andre. Liverpool, along with Arsenal, Tottenham and Fulham were reported to be interested in the 22-year-old.

Andre recently tasted Copa Libertadores glory with his current club Fluminense. He also made it to the Club World Cup final, where the Brazilian outfit were eventually beaten 4-0 by Manchester City.

The report from Football Insider claims that the Reds have pulled out of a move for the Brazilian.

Liverpool won’t be pursuing a top-quality talent like Andre

Liverpool’s interest in Andre does appear to have been wavering a little in recent weeks. It is disappointing to hear that they seemingly won’t be pursuing a move for him. The young Brazilian certainly looks like a top-quality player for many years to come. He has also been lauded by South America football expert Tim Vickery.

Tim said about Andre: “So, he’s quick. He’s quick around the field, he’s quick running back. They also pass out from the back in an almost suicidal manner, which means he’s continually having to receive the ball close to his own goal under pressure. So these are really honed skills that are useful for a Jurgen Klopp side. That high defensive line, that space there to cover.”

Liverpool need a defensive midfielder

Its no secret that Liverpool need a defensive midfielder, after their midfield overhaul in the summer. While they do have Wataru Endo, they only see him as a squad player. Klopp has preferred to play Mac Allister in that number 6 role. Although the Argentine has done pretty well in that position, he just feels more comfortable playing in his preferred number 8 position.

With Liverpool going strong in the title race, it remains to be seen if the lack of a defensive midfielder like Andre will affect them.
