London Reds Believe Ivan Toney as Missing Piece

London Reds Arsenal FC will be looking to make some purchases in January. One Player they will want is Ivan Toney.

London Reds Current Position

Arsenal 2023–24 season is off to a great start, but Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar will be wishing the January transfer market would come sooner.

After 12 Premier League games, the Gunners are only one point out of the top spot. However, injuries have plagued the team early in the season. Bringing back the depth concerns that derailed the North Londoners’ hopes of winning the league the previous year.

Due to the absence of important players from the starting lineup. Arsenal may need to make some additions in the midfield. Which is expected to be one of the main areas evaluated at the beginning of 2024. This information may be revealed during the forthcoming January transfer window.

A common trend among the Gunners’ deficiencies, aside from their midfield, is their inability to effectively lead the line; the only two identifiable center-forwards in the starting lineup are Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Jesus.

Given that a few players have already been connected to moves to the Emirates. Arteta may want to take advantage of the January transfer window to expand his choices moving ahead.

Ivan Toney Career

Based just on his scoring record—32 goals in the Premier League in only two seasons. Toney would clearly be a significant upgrade over the Gunners’ present attack options. His output is far higher than that of Jesus and Nketiah.

The 24-year-old has failed to score 20 goals in 101 games. Despite scoring 28 goals in his previous three full seasons in the league, which highlights the extra firepower that the Brentford player would provide.

Arsenal hasn’t had a reliable striker since Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang, who became the first centre forward to score more than 20 goals in the league since Robin van Persie in 2011–12. According to Transfermarkt, Alexis Sanchez, a winger, is the only other player to surpass the 20 goal mark.

During the Gabon international’s tenure at the Emirates, the north Londoners were going through a managerial and player change, and they were not in the top four. However, his goal scoring run gave the team a consistent platform to showcase their inventiveness.

Toney To Arsenal will change everything?

With the acquisition of Toney, Arteta will be able to add the clinical nature of the former Borussia Dortmund talisman to a team that is already winning the Premier League without the help of a potent number nine.

While Aubameyang joined during the team’s rebuilding phase and contributed goals, the 27-year-old may join at a point when he would be the manager’s missing piece, which would drastically alter Arsenal’s prospects of rising back to the top of Europe.

Toney’s signing is elusive for the Gunners due to a high price tag and a club that isn’t ready to give up on their attacker easy. As a result, the Gunners must carefully assess the intensity of their pursuit of the Englishman.
