About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Out of favour Real Madrid star, Luka Jovic is now being linked with a shock move to Liverpool. The Serbian has been a bit-part player in the Spanish capital and is desperate for more playing time.

The latest rumour linking Jovic to Liverpool is coming from the news outlet Fichajes. The report says that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp wants to add the 23-year-old to their team to strengthen their attack.

Jovic made his dream big-money move to Real Madrid in the summer of 2019. However, the centre-forward was not able to get proper playing time in the team, as a former manager, Zinadine Zidane was not confident in him. With the situation not improving this season as well, Jovic is desperate for a fresh start and Liverpool could be his next destination.

LIVERPOOL WANT JOVIC TO COUNTER THE AFCON EFFECT

Liverpool is already having an excellent attack comprising of the likes of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota. But Jurgen Klopp is said to be looking to add another centre-forward to the mix and highly rates Jovic.

There is also the issue of the AFCON Cup scheduled for January of 2022. Liverpool could be without Salah and Mane, alongside Naby Keita during this period. All these players will be leaving the club to join their respective nations in January. This will mean that Liverpool will be without their main attackers at the beginning of the next year.

With the club looking to be in a three-way fight for the Premier League title with Chelsea and Manchester City, they cannot afford to lose ground. Hence the club needs to strengthen the squad and Jovic is considered to be an option.

However, whether Liverpool will be the best move for Jovic is going to be an issue. The 23-year-old wants to start regularly and will be eyeing a spot in the national side for the World Cup next year. So even if he makes a move to Liverpool, there is a big chance that he will be mostly used as a substitute.

Liverpool could be looking at signing him on an initial loan in January. Jovic currently has a contract with Real Madrid till 2025. With options limited at the top, Jovic could ultimately end up at the Merseyside.
