Lukaku Admits Leaving Inter Milan Was ‘A Mistake’

Romelu Lukaku is back in Italy after a disastrous season at Chelsea. The Belgian striker was the marquee signing by Thomas Tuchel last season. The move was expected to make Chelsea premier league favorites after Lukaku fired Inter Milan to the Serie A title in 2021. A £97 million record move to Chelsea very soon turned out to be a nightmare as the Striker scored just 8 times in 26 appearances.

Things took a worse turn as Lukaku angered the Chelsea faithful in his interviews. The Belgian made it very clear that Chelsea was the wrong place to come and he made a mistake. Ironically, it was Lukaku himself that forced a move out of San Siro to join the 2021 European champions. The move was a failure for both clubs. Inter lost out on the Serie A while Chelsea splashed insane cash just to see Lukaku leave.

Now the big striker is back at Inter on a loan deal for 1 year. This means Lukaku will be back at Chelsea next season which will raise a lot of questions as to what solution Chelsea would find. Tuchel has hinted that Lukaku may play for Chelsea next season but it will be very unlikely. About his move to Chelsea, the Belgian said,

” I left . It was a mistake. Now I am happy to be wearing the Inter colors again. The team knows what we need to do , and it will be a great challenge this season.”

‘Inter Milan’s Importance Is Growing Day By Day’

” I realized last season in England that how important Inter are to the world. They are growing day by day , improving massively on the International scale. The social media approach is also really important and you can see that by how we act in the locker room , our jokes and hugs. Milan is wonderful and I even kept my old apartment because as soon as I left , I wanted to return, “

Lukaku said in an interview.

It is no surprise why Lukaku wanted to return to Inter. The 29-year-old was a force of nature, forming such a formidable partnership with Lautaro Martinez. The Belgian scored 64 goals in 95 games for Inter. The former Chelsea man will be looking to pick up from where he left and help Inter clinch the Serie A title again.
