Manchester United have joined the race to sign Declan Rice along with Chelsea as per Daily Express.

The Red Devils are looking for a replacement for world-cup winner Paul Pogba.

The 21-year-old West Ham United midfielder made his 100th appearance in the Premier League in a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace.

Declan Rice: Career, Statistics, and Performances

Declan Rice began his career aged seven in Chelsea youth academy in 2006. In 2014, he moved to West Ham United academy.

He made his professional debut with the Hammers in the last match of the 2016-17 season in the PL. Rice came in as a 91st-minute substitute in a 2-1 away win against Burnley.

He even captained the U-23 West Ham team and led them to promotion. He scored his first goal on 12 January 2019 in a 1-0 win against Arsenal. It was West Ham’s 50th PL match in the London Stadium.

He got a Premier League Goal of the season against Watford in a 3-1 win. As his grandparents were from Cork, he initially played for the Republic of Ireland. However, he now plays for England.

His international debut came on 25 March 2019 in a 5-1 victory over Montenegro.

He has scored 3 goals in total 126 appearances for the Hammers. For England, he has scored a goal in 13 matches.

Declan Rice, a perfect signing for Manchester United!

Declan Rice has caught interest from Manchester United, as head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been a fan of his style of play.

A report suggests that the Red Devils are interested in buying two players from positions such as winger, centre-back, right-back and a defensive midfielder.

However, Ed Woodward would be interested in signing players in the Summer transfer window rather than in January.

However, it is a great opportunity for the midfielder to play alongside England internationals Harry Maguire and Marcus Rashford.

Rice to Chelsea – A dream coming true?

Chelsea seem to be the front-runners in acquiring the services of the 21-year-old. Also, the English midfielder admires N’Golo Kante style of play in the midfield.

However, rumours of him joining the Blues are becoming clearer as his current agent is his dad, who is a Chelsea fan.

Playing alongside his Chelsea academy teammates Mason Mount, Christian Pulisic, Reece James and Tammy Abraham might help him improve.

The Pensioners love spending the money for talented players and they would be keen on spending more and more.

Frank Lampard would be excited to see him play alongside other youngsters. However, he has no regret if the Blues don’t sign him.

“In terms of from our end, I certainly wouldn’t use the word ‘regret’ – our academy is one of the best in the world and you look at our first team now with the players that we have produced who are in and around that squad.”

“It’s not an exact science to pick players but the academy staff do brilliantly here. Declan Rice has given himself personal credit for having the great start to the career that he’s had at West Ham.”

However, Chelsea fans have a chance analyse his style of play as they host West Ham United on 22nd December in the PL.
