Manuel Neuer extends contract with Bayern Munich

Italian goalkeeper

Manuel Neuer according to Bayern Munich has signed a new contract with the Bavarians on Wednesday that would keep him at the club until 2024.

The news puts an end to weeks of uncertainty over the Bayern captain’s future, with speculations circulating that negotiations between the player and the club had broken down.

Manuel Neuer is a huge signing for the team. For nearly a decade, the goat keeper has been one of Bayern Munich’s most important players. Although Neuer’s contract has been renewed, his pay at the club remains astronomically high. Clearly, the club believes Neuer’s form will continue to improve as he gets older.

Manuel Neuer’s pay stub

After signing a new agreement with Bayern Munich, Bild revealed Manuel Neuer’s new pay. After signing a new deal until 2024, the German will earn slightly over 20 million euros. If he can stay fit and consistent, the club may consider extending his contract beyond the first period. But, if he fails to meet expectations, the club might consider selling their triumph card.

“During the weeks of the shutdown for the coronavirus pandemic, I didn’t want to make a decision because nobody knew if, when, and how Bundesliga football would continue,” Neuer stated in a press conference.

“I look to the future with great optimism. I feel very comfortable and at home in Bavaria.” He added.

With the current state of the negotiations, Neuer had expressed his displeasure. In other words, the fact that information was being leaked to the press disappointed the player.

Neuer’s history with Bayern Munich

Neuer, who won the 2014 World Cup with Germany, joined Bayern from Schalke in 2011 and has won nearly everything with the Bavarian giants, including 10 Bundesliga championships, five German Cups, and the 2013 and 2020 Champions Leagues.

After a rocky season this year, the 36-year-old is on track to win his eleventh league title with Bayern. The team finished the league with a 2-2 draw against Wolfsburg. Bundesliga made the Bavarians win the title for the tenth time in a straight. They maintained an eight-point advantage at the top of the table.

Conclusion

To sum things up, Neuer maintains his position as one of the top goalkeepers in the game, if not the best goalie of all time. Another argument for Neuer’s retention is that Bayern has yet to find a viable successor, and if something is working well, let it be.
