According to sources, Marcus Rashford is among the Manchester United stars unhappy with Erik ten Hag’s methods as talk of a dressing room mutiny reaches fever pitch. Rashford is supposedly one of the big names at Old Trafford who has lost faith in his manager. He believes that the manager cannot get the best out of the players at his disposal.
The sources further claim that Rashford does not like the style of play implemented by ten Hag and is not a fan of his training methods.
It is reported that ten Hag has lost as much as half the dressing room after they became disillusioned with his training methods and play style. Some players didn’t even like the way ten Hag treated Jadon Sancho.
Marcus Rashford has been hot and cold throughout his time at Manchester United
Rashford has been inconsistent throughout his time at Manchester United. After a few disappointing seasons, the 26-year-old, was in red-hot form last season.
This season he started 13 of United’s first 14 games in the Premier League. However, he has been reduced to substitute appearances in the last two games against Chelsea and Bournemouth.
Rashford has made 379 appearances for the Red Devils since making a debut in 2015. During this time he has scored 125 goals and has provided 72 assists – a decent return but not a great return. This season he has managed just two goals and four assists for a misfiring side.
Erik ten Hag hasn’t built on the promise shown last season
Erik ten Hag had a decent 2022/23 campaign. He led Manchester United to a respectable third place finish last season and a FA Cup final.
However, Manchester United have been somewhere between disappointing and inconsistent this season. Their inconsistent form in the Premier League put them sixth after the Bournemouth defeat last week. They have been disappointing in the Champions League this season. They find themselves last in their group and no longer have their fate in their own hands with regards to qualification to the knockout stage.
Manchester United next face Bayern Munich in their final UCL group-stage game. They will need a win against the group leaders and hope for a draw between Galatasaray and Copenhagen to advance to the knockout rounds.
