After elimination in the semi-final of the Champions League against Manchester City, the current season is coming to an end. Mauricio Pochettino as of now has planned his organization for next season. In particular, the future of promising striker Arnaud Kalimuendo.

Arnaud Kalimuendo needed to get more playing time to continue his progression and he was aware that it would be difficult in Paris because of the competition.  So in October 2020, Paris Saint-Germain loaned Arnaud Kalimuendo to RC Lens. The initial contract was for one year with a purchase option of several million euros, which could be modified according to the player’s performance. Moreover, the priority of future purchase would be made to Lens if the club would activate the option.

The 19-year-old striker has already scored 7 goals and provided 5 assists for Lens. RC Lens is now aware of the potential of the young man and wants to obtain his permanent transfer. Arnaud Kalimuendo has been on loan for almost a year at RC Lens, but his future could be in question following a choice of the coach of Paris SG, Mauricio Pochettino.

Pochettino determined to bring back Kalimuendo after his impressive displays out on loan at RC Lens:

Mauricio Pochettino arrived at the PSG club only a few months ago. Since then, he has been closely observing the progress of Arnaud Kalimuendo. Indeed, the Argentine coach of Paris SG appreciates the profile of the native of Suresnes. Mauricio Pochettino made it known to his direction that he wanted to take the time to analyze his game. He also expressed the wish that he would do the whole summer preparation with the Parisian club.

As for him, the young player remains undecided about his eventual comeback to Paris Saint-Germain and prefers to remain focused on the end of the season.

“Everything in its own time. The most important thing is to finish the season well, to finish as high as possible, and continue to enjoy with my teammates. We’ll see what happens. Today, I just want to show, to play, to perform. I’m not tired, I want to give everything for the team.” -Arnaud Kalimuendo, the player on loan at Lens.

It will be interesting to see whether PSG will make a permanent move for Moise Kean, who has impressed since coming on-loan from Everton. While Icardi is very unreliable, it’s fair to say adding a depth option in the striker roster is much needed.
