Maziya 1-3 ATK Mohun Bagan : Analysis

After a superb display against Bengaluru, ATKMB were coming into the matchup with high motivation and confidence. However, similar to their previous matches, they were unable to have the maximum possession.

But, as compared to the previous match, lack of possession became a threat. The hosts took advantage of the Mariners after a disorganized defence was easily thwarted by a fine counterattack. However, in the second half, Boumous really made the difference.

His superb performance against BFC once again was decisive in this fixture. Liston Colaco equalized for the 3-time Indian Super League winners as early as in the 48th minute. The youngster made his manager really proud after showing some glimpses in the previous match too.

In the 63rd minute, clinical Roy Krishna brought the Mariners ahead comfortably beating the goalkeeper. Finally, in the 77th minute, Manvir Singh sealed the victory after a superb counterattack initiated by Hugo Boumous.

Notable Performances

Roy Krishna (7.5/10) – His scoring form would never stop it seems! The Fijian international would be having a superb season with the Mariners and the opponent defenders need to be cautious about him.

Hugo Boumous (7/10) – The creative playmaker once again rose to the occasion for an inspirational comeback. However, after getting booked for this match, he won’t be able to play for the next match against the Kings.

Sumit Rathi (5.5/10) – The 19-year-old centre-back faced some real pressure from the opponents and was also substituted later in the match. Despite winning the match, Habas needs to rectify the leaks seen in the Mariners’ defence.
