Lionel Messi did not have an easy start to life at his new club. The Argentine made the switch from Barcelona to PSG last summer after he could not renew his contract with the Catalans. Last year was not the most fruitful for Messi and PSG as they were humiliated in the UCL by Real Madrid. However, they won the Ligue 1 with Kylian Mbappe in fine form. Messi himself had a disappointing season hitting his lowest-ever goal tally but still racking up the numbers in assists.
But this season things look to take a big turn. Messi has started the season in fine form. PSG are looking in ruthless form with Mbappe, Neymar, and Messi leading the line. The Parisians have strengthened themselves in various positions this summer. It is finally looking like they can be worthy winners of the Champions League. Midfield was the area that Christopher Galtier targeted the most. The likes of Renato Sanches, Vitinha, and Fabian Ruiz are now the marquee midfield signings.
However, Leandro Paredes has moved to Juventus and Ander Herrera has moved to Spain. Lionel Messi took to Instagram to send a farewell message to both Paredes and Herrera.
“Many successes in your new stage, Leandro Paredes. It was wonderful to share so many things in Paris and I will always remember all the beautiful moments we lived together. And good luck to you too, Ander Herrera, I loved meeting you, I thank you for the way you welcomed me from the first day and I wish you the best in your return to La Liga.”
Can PSG get European Success this time?
PSG maybe had the best transfer window of all the clubs in Europe. The Parisians exactly knew what they wanted and did not make many big money moves in the market. Rather it was a smart and efficient business by them. They signed the likes of Mukiele, Soler, Ruiz, Sanches, and Vitinha. Galtier was very sure of how he wanted his team to play. The combination of him and Luis Campos might just tip UCL’s odds in PSG’s favor.
Messi will be hoping to make this happen and find his best form for PSG. The WC is nearby and the little genius will be trying to get into the best form to lead Argentina and PSG to glory. The likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich will all be looking to get their hands on the prestigious title. One thing is for sure: If Lionel Messi gets into his best form, there will be no team capable of stopping PSG and him from reaching the summit.
