According to various sources Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is ‘irritated’ with one of his players recently.
The North London side have been brilliant this season. They have competed with Manchester City on equal footing. What’s more is that they are still in with a chance of winning the Premier League on the final day of the season.
Arteta deserves a lot of credit for the season they’ve had. But he has had his frustrations as well in their stellar campaign. Some players have been mediocre in their run. And one of them due to various other reasons has been Thomas Partey.
Arsenal signed Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid in 2020.
Partey was often called by many as the missing piece of the Jigsaw puzzle in Arsenal’s project. He was everything they needed in the middle of the pitch.
Partey has been incredible for Arsenal during his time at the North London club. He was one of the key players in their challenge for the Premier League title in the 2023/24 season.
However, the biggest issue with Partey has been injuries.
The soon to be 30-year-old has started in only just 8 games in the Premier League for Arsenal this season. Although 4 of them have come in the last four games.
Mikel Arteta becoming frustrated with Partey
He has been a huge miss for Arsenal in the middle of the park no doubt .
Football Transfers claim that Mikel Arteta is ‘becoming increasingly irritated with the lack of availability from his player’.
Partey too is frustrated with his role at the Emirates. There was a period when Jorginho was preferred to Thomas in the midfield.
The report also reveals that Turkish outfit Fenerbahce have made enquiry about signing Partey this summer. As he enters the final year of his contract.
Thomas signed a long-term contract at the Emirates back in 2020. The Gunners back then agreeing to make him one of the club’s highest earners.
He pockets an eye-watering £200,000-a-week at Arsenal right now – only four players earn more than him at the Emirates.
As Partey enters the final year of his contract this summer, the report claims Mikel Arteta would be open to letting him leave.
However, it has been claimed Gunners would like to receive as much of their £45 million investment as possible.
So, the report suggests the Gunners would be willing to accept a fee of around £25 million for Partey. But that price may as well further go down due to the prospect of losing him on a free transfer in 12 months.
Meanwhile Arsenal find themselves in a crunch Premier League title race with Manchester City. Due to City’s result against Tottenham Arsenal will be heavily dependant on West Ham to stop City while also winning their own game.
This is almost the same scenario that has happened in the past few seasons where City have pipped Liverpool on the last matchday to win the title.
Although Arsenal have been fantastic this season they have only themselves to blame for coming short of City yet another time.
