Misaka United earns a point : IWL

Misaka United FC held defending champions Gokulam Kerala FC to a 0-0 draw on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at the TransStadia in Ahmedabad. Interrupting their 21-match winning run in the Hero Indian Women’s League.

The Malabarians, on the other hand, stay securely at the top of Group A with 10 points. Followed by East Bengal. They moved to second place in Group A. With a convincing 4-2 victory against Mumbai Knights FC at the Shahibaug Police Stadium on Thursday.

The two-time Hero IWL champions won all of their matches in the 2019-20 and 2021-22 seasons of the Hero IWL, followed by triumphs in their first three 2022-23 season matches against East Bengal (8-2), Sports Odisha (8-1), and HOPS FC (3-0) before the tie against Misaka United.

After a fantastic effort between the sticks, Misaka’s Malaysian custodian Nurul Mazlan was awarded Player of the Match. The last time Gokulam Kerala lost a Hero IWL match was in the 2018-19 season’s semi-final against Manipur Police (2-4), a game in which Ngangom Bala Devi scored four goals.

Sports Odisha wins by a slim margin

At the Shahibaug Police Stadium, Sports Odisha defeated Mata Rukmani 1-0. Sports Odisha have ascended the Group A table and are currently within touching distance of the summit, trailing leaders Gokulam Kerala by a single point.

Manisha Naik ultimately gave her team a 1-0 lead in the 54th minute. The attacker snuck in between two Mata Rukmani defenders to score up Nisha’s wonderful cross from the left edge. Naik was also named Player of the Match for her tenacious play in the assault.

East Bengal wins convincingly

In the other game on Thursday morning, East Bengal midfielder Rimpa Haldar was the star of the show, scoring a brace in the Red and Gold Brigade’s 4-2 victory over Mumbai Knights; Mousumi Murmu and Tulsi Hembram scored one each for the Kolkata giants, while Mumbai captain Priyanka and substitute Namrata Thakur scored one each to pull two goals back in the second half.

HOPS defeated Kahaani by 6 goals

HOPS FC defeated Kahaani FC 6-0 in a high-scoring contest at the TransStadia. With six points gained over four games, HOPS moves up one spot in the standings.

On the day, the New Delhi squad had four different goal scorers, with Renu Rani and Tannu both scoring braces. Santosh and Kajal, who came on as a replacement, also scored. Santosh was voted the match’s MVP.
