Defending Champions of Indian Super League Mumbai City FC have signed defender Rahul Bheke on a two-year contract from Bengaluru FC on Thursday. The contract has an option to an extent for a further year.
Born in Maharastra, the 30 years old played his early football at the youth setup of Mahindra United. Bheke started his professional football career with Air India and then went on to play for clubs like Mumbai Tigers and Mumbai FC. In 2015 he signed for the I-League club East Bengal.
East Bengal loaned out Bheke to Indian Super League side Kerala Blasters FC during the 2015-16 campaign. The following year he signed for fellow ISL club Pune City FC on a loan deal.
Bheke joined Bengaluru FC in the year 2017, he won the Indian Super League and Indian Super Cup with the club in 2018. Since his debut at the Blues, he has played 70 fixtures across five seasons while netting five times.
Currently, he represented the Indian National Team in the preparatory camp at Kolkata. Moreover, Bheke has 13 National team caps. Most recently the defender featured for the Blue Tigers in the Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and the AFC Asian Cup China 2023.
How Bheke will be benificial for Mumbai City FC ?
Bheke will play along Mourtada Fall in the defensive line of the Mumbai City FC. He is an experienced defender who can play at any position in the defence setup. Furthermore, he is excited to join his hometown club and the defending champions.
The Islanders boss Sergio Lobera is delighted with the new addition of Bheke to his squad.

Islanders are yet to complete all their signing for the upcoming season to start their pre-season on time to prepare.
