Neymar and Marquinhos will not play in the Tokyo Olympics Games

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

It is official Neymar and Marquinhos will not represent Brazil at the 2020 Summer Olympics games. The football tournament of the Olympic Games of Tokyo was initially planned from July 22 to August 8, 2020. But due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many matches have been rescheduled. The football competition in Tokyo will be held from 21st July to 7th August.

When an Olympic team like Brazil wants to borrow a player from another club, long negotiations begin. The Brazilian Football Federation tried to convince Paris Saint-Germain to let Neymar and Marquinhos play for the Brazilian team.  However, it is now official: Paris Saint-Germain has categorically refused. The two Brazilians will be able to enjoy a little vacation before the resumption of training at Camp des Loges.

Neymar had not hidden his desire to participate in the Olympics with the Brazilian team. However, Paris Saint-Germain has openly shown its disagreement with this decision. The club explained this first refusal by the need to keep its player in good health. Indeed, the players have just finished the Ligue 1 and have already started the Euro. Integrating the Brazilian team for July 21 to August 7 will tire the players too much for the season of Ligue 1 that begins on August 7.

“We must manage our player well, protect him and not expose him. Today the calendar is very busy for everyone. Unfortunately, it is difficult because there are too many games in a season. We see the injuries. “– Leornardo Nascimento of Paris Saint-Germain.

Other players have followed Neymar for their participation in the Tokyo Olympics:

Despite the fact that Paris Saint-Germain refused to lend Neymar, other players had international ambitions. Marquinhos had made the same wish as during the last games of Rio. Once again the club of Paris did not wish to accede to this request. The Olympics Football competition does not officially fit into the dates of a FIFA season.

Paris Saint-Germain has no obligation to release its players for the Olympic tournament. The Brazilian Football Confederation knows that the final choice will not be made by them. The Brazilian organization does not want to go into a conflict to create an international team. For the players, joining this team could be a great opportunity on the one hand. For example, with the Brazilian delegation, Neymar won the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.

Neymar and Marquinhos know what to expect: they will not participate in the Tokyo Olympics. Paris Saint-Germain does not see itself releasing some of its international stars and taking risks. The selectors of the countries qualified for the Olympic football tournament are leading a long battle with the clubs to try to convince them.

This double news about Neymar and Marquinhos should cut short the wishes of Kylian Mbappé. The Frenchman was mentally prepared to be in Japan for the 2020 Olympics. But it is almost impossible that PSG grants this favor to Kylian Mbappé after denying Neymar and Maruquinhos.
