Following the unexpected season, the Indian Super League side Odisha FC are on the verge of signing Center Forward Jonathan Pereria.
According to IFTWC, the Bhubneswar based club are in talks with the 37 years old Spanish striker.
Jonathan is a veteran striker who prefers playing as a centre forward, but he can also comfortably play as a winger. His major skill is making a perfect run into the box. He has played more than 300 fixtures in La Liga and La Liga 2.
Jonathan started his professional footballing career playing for Spanish club Villarreal. He played for La Liga clubs like Real Betis, Villarreal CF, AD Alcorcón and Racing Santander. He scored 75 goals across 388 appearances and assisted 50 times.
If Odisha FC finalizes the deal, ISL fans will see Jonathan play for a club outside Spain for the first time, as he had played football mainly in Spanish clubs.
Odisha FC’s approcah for the Upcoming ISL Season
The departure of striker Diego Mauricio greatly impacted the club as he was the top goalscorer for the club last season. The Juggernauts will replace Mauricio with Jonathan if the deal is finalized.
Earlier this week, the Juggernauts have appointed Spanish manager Kiko Ramirez as their new head coach. The club have also appointed García Sánchez as the Assistant Manager and Head of Football Development to head Ramirez coaching staff.
ATK Mohun Bagan player Javi Hernandez and former ATK defender Victor Mongil have reportedly agreed to terms with Odisha FC.
The Juggernauts have to rebuild the club after last year’s bottom place finish in the ISL. They are surely looking to get a place in the playoffs in the upcoming season.
