Diego Mauricio scored twice as Odisha FC defeated Aizawl FC 3-0 earlier in the day.

Odisha FC currently has four points from two games and leads Group B after their victory, which earned them three points. Aizawl FC has yet to score a goal. Aizawl FC and Odisha FC played evenly during the first 45 minutes of the game, sharing the ball control and scoring opportunities equally.

In the 16th minute, Odisha’s Narender Gahlot, a centre defender, had the first chance as he rose to head a corner towards goal. However, because he was unable to keep his shot low, the ball soared over the net.

Over the next 15 minutes, Aizawl FC took control of the game and had two chances to score the game’s opening goal. Hruaitea had the better chances on both occasions, with his volleyed attempt from a corner nearly missing the goalpost in the 20th minute.

In the 28th minute, Hruaitea had a fantastic chance to put his team ahead when the ball was just in front of the goal.

Despite this, both teams had plenty of chances, and just before halftime, Odisha FC winger Isak Vanlalruatfela found himself in a position where he only had Vanlalhriatpuia to beat. However, the custodian did well to deflect his shot and preserve the score level at halftime.

But, once again, Vanlalhriatpuia stepped in to save Aizawl FC in the nick of time.

The subsequent corner resulted in the first goal in the 47th minute. Diego Mauricio was in the right position at the right time to score from close range and put Odisha FC ahead.

Odisha FC scored again in the 55th minute. Victor Rodriguez used outstanding footwork inside the penalty box this time to avoid a defender and score to enhance his team’s lead. Clifford Miranda’s team then totally took control of the game.

Nandha Kumar Sekar secured the victory with a 3-0 goal in the second minute of stoppage time. Vanlalhriatpuia brilliantly blocked Diego Mauricio’s ferocious shot, but Nandha pounced on the rebound.

K. Lalmalsawma brought down Mauricio in the penalty area in the fourth minute of stoppage time, allowing him another chance to score. Nonetheless, Aizawl FC’s courageous custodian saved the Brazilian’s penalty.
