About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Odisha FC signs Sebastian Thangmuansang from I-League Champions Gokulam Kerala FC for the upcoming eighth edition of the Hero Indian Super League.

The 22-year-old right-back from Manipur, Sebastian, who recently won the I-League title with Gokulam Kerala FC, has signed a two-year contract with the Club.

He had also represented NEROCA and Chennai City FC in the I-League after his youth career at Pune.

I am really excited to be a part of Odisha FC and continue my football journey with them. I hope to repay the trust shown on me by the management, give my best for the team and make the fans happy. Can’t wait to meet my new teammates and start training with them.”- Sebastian

Odisha FC CEO Mr. Rohan Sharma is very happy with both the signing of Sahil Panwar and Sebastian.

“We’ve been tracking Sebastian for the past two years and we are glad he’s finally joined the team,”– Rohan Sharma

“They are two of the most promising defenders in the country and add further depth and quality to the team,”– Mr. Raj Athwal.

Beginning of the Sebastian football journey

Thangmuansang started playing football at the age of 5. He later joined Pune city academy in 2014. After spending his youth in the academy he was loaned to Chennai City.

He made his competitive senior debut for the club in 2017 against Gokulam Kerela FC and played for the full 90 minutes. He later signed NEROCA in 2018 and Gokulam Kerela FC in 2019.

With a very disappointing performance of Odisha in the last year’s Indian Super League campaign, new talent might help it gain its spirit back.

Odisha FC is has been recruiting young Indian talent in their squad for the next season. Odisha has seen an overhaul of their foreign contingent and the new signings seem to be quite good. The signing of both the defenders shows that they are going to give a tough fight.
