Pep Guardiola talks about the return of De Bruyne from injury

Pep Guardiola has been conveying to Kevin De Bruyne the potential repercussions of not managing his return from injury carefully. Thus, emphasizing the risk of encountering difficulties.

At the age of 32, Kevin De Bruyne has been in the sidelines since Manchester City’s first game of the season due to a significant hamstring injury. Reminiscent of the one he sustained in the Champions League final. De Bruyne is now on the cusp of a comeback. Having resumed full training during City’s triumphant Club World Cup campaign last week.

Guardiola has been suggesting that De Bruyne might potentially be included in Saturday’s match against Sheffield United. However, making his first appearance in over four months is just one more stride in the journey toward complete recovery. Guardiola affirmed, “He’s training with a lot of energy.”

What did Guardiola comment on De Bruyne?

The Manchester City manager said: “Being injured is not good for anyone but I think for his mind it will have been good to have a few months off. What he loves is playing football but it’s been a long injury, it was major surgery and muscular so we have to be careful. It looks like you are perfect but you are not.”

‌”It’s how many minutes he can handle and do it step by step. It’s not playing 90 minutes then three days later another 90 and another, after that you’d be in trouble.”‌

De Bruyne finds himself sidelined alongside star striker Erling Haaland and promising winger Jeremy Doku. Guardiola commented on the absentees, stating, “Kevin is training with us and we will see. I have the feeling the closest one with us is Kevin.” The injury list contains defender John Stones and backup goalkeeper Zack Steffen.
