PSG edged out Milan in signing Renato Sanches

Renato Sanches

Paris Saint-Germain has the last laugh in their race with AC Milan to sign Renato Sanches. The player has been keen on leaving his current team, Lille for a while.

Paris Saint-Germain’s interest in Sanches

According to Le Parisien, the 24-year-old has entered the final days of his contract. The Portuguese international managed 7 goals and 9 assists for Lille across all competitions. As a result, various European giants were attracted to the midfielder.

Various European giants spell ‘PSG’. Lille’s rivals have been desperate to land the former Bayern Munich star in Parc Des Princes. The French capital has seen many names linked to them over the course of 2 months. From Frenkie De Jong to Christopher Nkunku, PSG has been active in the transfer market.

Other European interests

Apart from PSG, there have been top clubs in Europe trying to get the Portuguese’s signature. Arsenal and AC Milan finished 2nd and 3rd in the race to sign Renato Sanches.

The Gunners had him on their shopping list with Mikel Arteta being a huge admirer of his work. Now the north London side needs to look for another pair of feet, probably Youri Tielemans by competing with Leicester City.

And coming to the Rossoneri, Renato Sanches would be the second time Lille rejected a bid from AC Milan. This has come out to be a huge embarrassment for the 7-time Champions League winners after PSG reached out to Renato faster.

AC Milan lost Lille’s Sven Botman to New Castle United for £32 million and now Renato Sanches to PSG for £25 million.

There were initial rumors of Sven Botman and Renato Sanches leaving their club followed by an Instagram story posted by the latter.

Should Renato Sanches sign for PSG?

The Portuguese international has played his part in contributing to Lille’s goals in League 1 which only poses threat to PSG. In order to make the competition easier for the Parisians, they’ve offered Lille £25 million to land the player.

The former Bayern Munich star now has the chance of clinching the French League with PSG. This only means a bigger challenge for him and in the future for other European challenges.
