PSG Manager, Christophe Galtier talks about letting the star players express themselves

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Christophe Galtier has inherited a squad filled with star players across all departments. Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, Sergio Ramos, and Gigi Donnarumma are a few names amongst others. The Frenchman has his work cut out as the squad massively underperformed last season.

Mauricio Pochettino led the club to league victory, however, the Parisians got knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid. The Argentine was sacked due to the disappointing European campaign and Christophe Galtier will be under pressure to deliver European success.

However, one of the main challenges for the incoming manager is to get the best out of his elite players. Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos did not live up to the expectations last season. While Neymar is still not at his best for the Parisians.

Christophe Galtier has used the players well in the pre-season though. The Argentine superstar has scored in all games and looked lively in a familiar false 9 role. Meanwhile, his link-up play with Neymar has shown Barcelona (2013-2017) glimpses.

Christophe Galtier has strong words for his squad ahead of next season

The former Ligue 1 winner won his first trophy with Paris Saint-Germain recently after beating Nantes in French Super Cup. The Manager was asked about the integration of his star players after the match.

The Frenchman said:

“I just think they were very heckled last season when they were champions.”

He further said:

“These are players that I have observed a lot, that I watch and with whom I exchange informally. There must be group and team dynamics. For the moment, on what we have done during the four, five weeks of work, things have gone well.”

Christophe Galtier rounded off his interview by saying:

“You have to let them express themselves; they have a lot of talent. We must always insist on the replacement to prevent this team from being cut in two. There are some things to improve, but overall I am satisfied with the preparation, satisfied with this victory at the Trophée des Champions, and satisfied with the state of mind.”

While PSG has shown impressive form in the pre-season, the manager will hope the squad can take the momentum into the season and win over all the fans and critics!!
