Lalthathanga Khawlhring, also known as Puitea is set to sign for Odisha FC. With Mohun Bagan already signing Anirudh Thapa and Sahal Abdul Samad for their midfield, Puitea had an evident question, Will I get game time?
Puitea before Odisha FC
The defensive midfielder had signed for Mohun Bagan in January this year from Kerala Blasters FC. Although he played for a short while for the Mariners, he was part of the winning squad of the Indian Super League Trophy 2022-23. He started his careerwith playing in the Mizoram Premier League for Bethlehem Vengthlang. He made his debut with the DSK Shivajians in the I-League. His performance got noticed by the scouts of Northeast United FC. Puitea was signed for the 2017-18 season but he was immediately loaned out to Aizwal FC in the I-League. He was brought back to club for the 2018-19 season because of his excellent performances in the I-League. Then he went on to make 20 appearances for the club and established his name in the football circuit.
In the summer transfer window of 2020, he signed for Kerala Blasters FC where he continued to stay for three seasons. He improved his performances and also added a few goals to his name. With his abilities and performance, he impressed Mohun Bagan, who ended up signing him toward the end of the 2022-23 season. He played a crucial role in their victory run.

Odisha FC, after signing their coach, Sergio Lobera, are making significant moves in the market. They extended the contracts of Delgado and Mauricio and also brought in ISL experienced players – Jahouh, Fall and Roy Krishna. With the signing of Puitea to Odisha FC, Lobera wants to aim higher. He not only wants to build a team for the ISL but also for THE AFC Cup. It is interesting for fans to see what they do in the upcoming season.
