Pundits back Hazard for a Chelsea return after Madrid stint

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Eden Hazard has been supported for a possible reunion with his former club, Chelsea as per Football pundit, Paul Merson. However, the Real Madrid player is currently having difficult times in the form of persistent injuries.

The 30-year-old midfielder is a legend at the London club, also enabling them to win an Europa League at his final season at Stamford Bridge. But, the move to Spain hasn’t benefitted him much.

Currently, he has three more years left of his current contract. But, the Blues have been tipped as the favourites to sign him if he leaves the Los Blancos.

Eden Hazard – a new beginning at old club, Chelsea?

Eden Hazard joined Real Madrid from Chelsea for the 2019-20 season. With him, the English club allowed another crucial player, Thibaut Courtois, to the La Liga giants a season ago. Thus, all eyes were on Courtois and Hazard to shine at their new club.

Courtois established himself as the main custodian but Hazard made very less appearances for the Madrid club after succumbing to injuries. However, as per football pundit Paul Merson, Hazard hasn’t performed well at his new club and it would be great to see him play once again back in the Premier League.

“If Hazard ever gets back to the form he was in at Chelsea, he can cause havoc. But I just don’t see it,” says Merson according to the reports.

However, both the Belgian internationals, Courtois and Hazard are en route to have a reunion against their former club in the Champions League semi-finals. Zidane’s side overcame Liverpool whereas Thomas Tuchel’s side overcame FC Porto in the quarters.

It is unsure whether Hazard could feature for the clash. But, if he features, he might have to reciprocate his form back at Chelsea.
