Sadio Mane will get opportunities at wing after the dry spell in recent weeks

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Bayern Munich signed Sadio Mane from Liverpool this summer to replace Robert Lewandowski. The Senegalese wanted to move away from Liverpool in search of a new challenge after 6 successful years at Liverpool. The forward won everything at the Merseyside and wanted to try another league before his career slides off.

Sadio Mane started the season really well for the Bavarians and scored goals for fun. However, the Senegal international has found it difficult in the past few weeks. The forward has struggled to score goals and is going through a bit of a dry spell.

The forward has played well even during this dry spell but goals have not come by easily. Bayern Munich wants the player to succeed as they will miss the goals of Robert Lewandowski this season. The Polish international has departed the club and it is difficult for any player to replicate the form of Lewandowski. Thus, the club wants all its forwards to contribute collectively.

Julian Nagelsmann will try Sadio Mane at the wing

Manager, Julian Nagelsmann has used Sadio Mane as a striker since his arrival. The player has filled in as the number 9 after Robert Lewandowski’s departure. Bayern Munich did not sign another striker as they believe the current forwards are capable of playing as the striker as well.

The shift for Sadio Mane will offer him the opportunity to play a familiar role. The forward played as a winger on the left side for Liverpool as well. The player was immensely successful in this left winger role at Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp. Hopefully, the shift will unlock his true potential and he will succeed for Bayern Munich just like he did at Liverpool.

This change in role for the Senegalese will also affect the role of Thomas Muller and Jamal Musiala. The two German internationals can be used as the striker or traditional number 9 in the team. It will also open a window of opportunity for Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting as the Cameroonian is the only traditional striker available in the squad. Hopefully, this shake-up will help Bayern Munich return to their scintillating best and conquer European Football again!!
